Health Professions Education
Within the last two decades, significant changes have occurred in both health care delivery and in the context and methods in which medicine is taught and learnt. These changes have brought considerable challenges to all those involved in medical teaching (at all levels of healthcare). Although most health care professionals (doctors, nurses, laboratory scientists etc) in principle are enthusiastic towards clinical teaching, recent changes have often required them to prioritize their clinical and laboratory practice or research responsibilities and as a result, time and energy for teaching have been eroded. At the same time changes in the context and style of delivery of education in the health sciences have made it less possible for established practitioners to teach in the style to which they were previously accustomed.
We offer healthcare professionals involved in teaching in whatever setting, the support and further training to meet the new challenges of medical education in this millennium.
